You’re invited to a Birthday Party!

1911-2011: One hundred years of libraries in Burlington. Read a proclamation from the Mayor of Burlington.

On February 1, 1911, a Reading Room opened in the Knutzen building in Burlington–the city’s first effort towards a public library. One hundred years of providing information to people, and adapting to the best ways to do that, now that is definitely something to celebrate.

So tomorrow, one hundred years later on February 1, 2011, we’re having a birthday party. There will be cake (while it lasts!) and members of the Burlington Library Foundation will be on hand to tell you what’s happening at your 21st-Century library. Please join us to celebrate our 100th birthday.
