On Our Shelves

Looking for something to read? How about a book suggestion from a Skagit librarian? Each Sunday, in a column titled “On Our Shelves,” the Skagit Valley Herald prints a book review from one of the local Skagit librarians. The reviews are written by an assortment of librarians, with varied reading tastes, so over time there’s bound to be something reviewed that tweaks your interest.

Last Sunday, Sara Holahan from the Mount Vernon City Library reviewed Swamplandia! by Karen Russell. Here’s what she had to say: “The quirky Bigtree family maneuvers its way into readers’ hearts in the first pages of this highly unusual first novel.” This book is on order, and coming soon to your library.

And at the Burlington Library we’ve made it easy to find On Our Shelves titles that have been reviewed over the past four years; each one is marked with a bright orange sticker on the spine.

Check out what’s On Our Shelves at your local library.
