I love to follow award winners—Oscars, Emmys, and for writing, the Pulitzer Prizes. Several years ago I printed off a list of Pulitzer Prize winners for fiction, and started reading through the list—picking and choosing books that looked interesting, and perhaps challenged me to read outside my usual comfort zone. That’s how I discovered Angle of Repose, by Wallace Stegner, and Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara: two books that now have a place on my all time favorites list.
The 2011 Pulitzer Prize winners were announced this week, and both the Fiction and General Nonfiction winners are already in the Burlington Library collection:
Fiction: A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
General Nonfiction: The Emperor of all Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee
