Leaving on a jet plane?

A story on the front page to today’s USA Today newspaper reports, “Many Americans, fed up with being pent up, appear determined to go on vacation this summer—even though they know it’s going to cost them more than in recent years.”  The article cites a recent Gallop poll that discovered that 6 out of 10 say it’s important to get away from home this year.

If you’re among that traveling throng, you can start your travel planning at your local library. We recently purchased a bunch of great new travel guides, for travel both in the US and abroad.  And if you prefer armchair travel, these guides are perfect for “staycations” too!   Dream about, learn about, or plan your trip to Japan, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Seattle, Canada, Vancouver, Victoria, Costa Rica, Spain, Washington D.C., Scandanavia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Northwest!  Also, Rick Steves’ Europe Through the Back Door 2011: The Travel Skills Handbook, not only covers Europe but also offers loads of travel tips and skills for any trip.

So make your first stop the Burlington Public Library, and…  safe travels.
