Rock the Bulb!

Here at the City of Burlington we’ve had a big campaign to save taxpayer’s money by saving energy.  And we’ve been hugely successful.  It is amazing how much money we’ve saved by easy things like turning off computer monitors.

Now it’s your turn.  If you’re a Puget Sound Energy customer, you can participate in Rock the Bulb this weekend at Fred Meyer’s in Burlington.  See here for more details, but the idea is that you bring in up to 10 incandescent (old-fashioned) light bulbs and trade them for up to 10 CFL (new-fashioned, energy-saving) light bulbs, in all different sizes and shapes.

Such a deal!

Did you know …

  • Just one CFL bulb can outlast about 10 incandescent bulbs
  • ENERGY STAR qualified CFL bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy than conventional incandescent bulbs while providing the same amount of light
  • CFL bulbs come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit nearly every household fixture
  • When they do burn out, CFL bulbs can be recycled for free at a convenient location near you
